It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Kristján Guðmundsson.
He was one of the most important conceptual artists to emerge from Iceland in the mid-1960s. He became widely known for his radical minimal work and continued to explore his minimalist themes, particularly the poetic tension between something and nothing.
In 2010, Guðmundsson received the prestigious Carnegie Award in
recognition of his lifelong artistic work. Over the course of his
career, he exhibited widely and left a lasting impact on many
generations of artists.
Timothy Persons and then Persons
Projects had the honor of showing his work, including this year
exhibitions 'Mostly Drawings' which will remain one of our most
memorable shows.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, and all his friends.
